Original Fiction

ScepticThomas.com© invites our visitors interested in writing horror fiction to submit their original work for consideration and possible inclusion on our site. If you have a short story or a longer work you would like to submit serially, we will review your work and consider it for presentation in our Original Fiction section. Email your questions or submissions to Jane.

This Month's Selections

Horror Writing Workshops

  • Critters Workshop - "Critters is an on-line workshop/critique group for serious writers of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. You get your work critiqued in exchange for critiquing the work of others, both of which are invaluable ways to improve your writing. It's run by Dr. Andrew Burt, vice-president of SFWA, and his army of software minions. Critters is free (except for the work of doing critiques!); if you find Critters useful, you may make a donation (appreciated but in no way required)."

  • Horror Factor - "The Online Source for Horror Writers wanting to learn to write GREAT horror! Every month we will feature tips on writing horror fiction, articles on improving your horror writing craft, how to write a horror novel, getting your horror published, promoting and marketing your fiction and much more!"

  • American Zoetrope - "In March of 1998 Francis Coppola launched a website where writers could submit their short stories to his magazine, Zoetrope: All-Story. A community of writers quickly formed around the website. It became so popular so quickly that a few months later he created sites for novellas and screenplays."

  • Stories Anonymous: Where Fiction Has No Boundaries - "Stories Anonymous showcases creative writing from original authors covering genres such as fantasy, horror, comedy, chiller, poetry, prose and sci-fi, to name but a few...This web site is here to promote authors of stories no matter which genre they prefer. The stories could be fiction, could be semi-autobiographical, autobiographical or otherwise, could be written in prose, could be written in poetry or just could be in a story style. There are no parameters."
